Putting an end to speculation that Nizamabad MP K Kavitha of the TRS might join the Modi government, BJP national general secretary P Muralidhar Rao ruled out any such possibility.
There was no question of bringing the TRS into the NDA fold, he clarified.
TRS MP Kavitha had recently said that the TRS would consider joining the NDA government at the Centre if there was such an invitation from the Centre.
Rao said that while the government wanted to increase its strength in the Rajya Sabha and wanted the support of various political parties including the TRS, the TRS joining Modi government was mere speculation.
He also said that the BJP would play a vital role in Telangana.
The party would first concentrate on winning in the upcoming GHMC elections. The BJP had a support base in Hyderabad, and there was a need to strengthen it further in the rural areas, he said.
Reacting on the functioning of the TRS government, the BJP national general secretary said that the Telangana Chief Minister KCR was trying to have good relations with the central government now.
Stating that the TDP-BJP tie up would continue, he said the party was trying to strengthen its own base in Andhra Pradesh, too. (NSS)
