Leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party staged a rasta roko on Sunday at Tank Bund, to protest against the Central government's arrest of Baba Ramdev in Delhi. The BJP state unit president G Kishen Reddy and a few other leaders were taken into police custody.
Kishen Reddy condemned Saturday night's incident at Delhi's Ramlila Grounds as a blot on democracy, and demanded that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh take morak responsibility and resign from his post immediately.
He alleged that even while the Congress government claimed to be good at eradicating corruption, it did not hesitate to act against peaceful protests.
He added that Saturday's events would lead to the people of the country banning the UPA government.
