The Bharatiya Janata Party will hold a massive dharna at the GHMC Headquarters on May 15 in protest against the Telangana government neglecting to involve the city's MLAs in the Swachch Hyderabad campaign.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Telangana BJP president G Kishan Reddy said that the state government had completely neglected the city during the 11 months. No steps had been taken to lift garbage or maintain sanitation, he alleged. However, in view of the upcoming GHMC elections, the government had announced the Swachch Hyderabad campaign. And instead of the city's elected representatives, the TRS MLAs from other districts were being involved, to draw political mileage for the polls.
Reddy informed that the BJP legislators had met Governor E S L Narasimhan seeking his directions to the state government to involve the city's MLAs in the Swachch Hyderabad campaign.
Speaking about Rahul Gandhi's visit, Kishan Reddy asked the AICC Vice-President to first accept the failure of the UPA government in preventing farmers' suicides during its regime before taking up a padayatra in Telangana. (INN)
