The Bharatiya Janata Party has strongly condemned Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for his criticism of the Union Government.
Addressing a press conference at the State headquarters at Nampally on Wednesday, BJP National General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao alleged that KCR had been blaming the Centre for different reasons only to hide his failures.
Stating that the BJP had played a crucial role in the formation of Telangana, he alleged that KCR was trying to act as the sole hero of the statehood movement.
Asking the Chief Minister to change his attitude, he advised KCR to have a friendly relationship with the BJP Government at the Centre instead of being confrontational.
Muralidhar Rao claimed that the TRS Government did not make any representation to the Centre on any issues including water and energy.
He said that it was wrong to blame the Centre without even making any representation.
The Union Government and the BJP were willing to cooperate in the development of Telangana, and therefore KCR should maintain a friendly relationship with them, he counseled.
Speaking about the BJP's membership drive, Muralidhar Rao said that the party had seen overwhelming response across the country.
He dismissed the reports that BJP national president Amit Shah was unhappy with the membership drive in Telangana. Since the drive would go on till March 2015, it was too early to judge the performance of the State units, he said.
He stated that the BJP would focus on strengthening the organisation in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerela, Tamil Nadu, Orissa, West Bengal and Assam. (INN)
