BJP Announces T-Agitation Itenarary
The party will organise three-day protests across the Telangana region from December 9 to mark the anniversary of the announcement of the formation of Telangana by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram.
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday announced a series of programmes to be organised as part of the Telangana statehood agitation.
Addressing a press conference at BJP State office at Nampally, the party's state president G Kishan Reddy announced that the BJP would fully support the Telangana Maha Yatra being organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad from November 26. He informed that the yatra would be launched simultaneously from four locations, including Satavahana University in Bodhan, Godavarikhani, Mahaboobnagar and Singareni Collieries. The yatra would conclude on December 7 in a public meeting at Hyderabad.
Kishan Reddy said that the BJP would also support the Telangana Bharosa Yatra being organised by Nagarkurnool MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy.
The BJP leader said that the party would organise three-day protests across the Telangana region from December 9 to mark the anniversary of the announcement of the formation of Telangana by the then Union Home Minister P Chidambaram. He said that the Congress-led UPA Government has failed to honour the promise even after three years. A mass public meeting would be organised on Decmeber 9 at Indira Park which would be addressed by the Central leadership of BJP.
Kishan Reddy informed that the BJP leader Prakash Javedkar has given notice in the Lok Sabha on Thursday seeking discussion on the Telangana issue. He said that BJP would raise the statehood issue in both the Houses of Parliament during the on-going winter session.
The BJP leader also ridiculed the decision of some pro-Telangana leaders to join the YSR Congress party. He said that YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy had openly opposed Telangana in the Parliament. He said that the YSRCP had no clear agenda or stand on the Telangana issue. He also derided the Vastunna Mee Kosam padayatra being undertaken by TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu.
Stating that the ongoing padayatras would have no impact on the voters in the 2014 elections, he said that only pro-Telangana parties would be able to win the next elections. He also expressed confidence that the year 2013-14 would belong to the BJP. (INN)
