The Congress is being hit by the dissidence menace, too, where party tickets are concerned.
Supporters of former Serilingampally Assembly constituency MLA Bikshapati Yadav on Sunday staged a protest in front of Gandhi Bhavan at Nampally demanding that the party ticket be given to their leader.
Going a step ahead, two supporters of Yadav also made attempts to commit suicides.
While one of the two tried to immolate himself by pouring kerosene over his body, the other tried to kill himself by slitting his vein on the wrist. However, the other supporters present at the venue prevented them from taking to the extreme step.
Speaking on the occasion, Yadav demanded that the party high command allot the seat to him, and said that he would ensure the defeat of any other leader of the grand alliance from the seat if he was denied the ticket from his constituency. Yadav staged the dharna with hundreds of his supporters, with his supporters raising anti-TDP slogans.
