Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka today reiterated that as his party, the Congress, announced before the elections, two lakh vacant government posts would be filled in Telangana.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Civil Services coaching centre at Ashok Nagar, Vikramarka said that Telangana was achieved after a long struggle to enable government jobs for the local people, and that the Congress government was determined to deliver on that.
As part of his government's endeavour, a total of 50,000 posts were already filled, and the government was releasing the annual job calendar every year, a feat unheard of in any part of the country, he claimed.
The Group 1 exams had already been completed successfully and the Group II exams would be held soon, Vikramarka said, and added that the competitive examinations to fill vacant posts were being conducted smoothly without any scope for leakage of question papers or other problems.
He also said that the State government was helping promising UPSC aspirants, too. "Though intelligent enough to crack the UPSC exams, people from the poor and middle classes are finding it difficult to qualify in them due to their financial problems. Recognising their problems, the State government has decided to encourage them financially. The energy department has come forward to extend a Rs 1 lakh incentive to each such person from our State who has been selected to appear in the UPSC Mains exam and interview," he said.
He added that more candidates were getting selected from North India for the Civil Services as more academies were available there, and so there was a need to set up more Civil Services coaching centres in Telangana.
"If a large number of candidates from our State are selected for the Civil Services, it will do a lot of good to our region. They will be more motivated to design welfare schemes, budgets and other aspects to benefit our State," Bhatti said, and advised the Civil Services aspirants to know what subjects and topics to focus on to improve their chances for success in the exams.
