The Telangana unit of the BJP Kisan Morcha today held a meeting at the Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district. State party chief Bandi Sanjay Kumar attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that he was happy that the meeting was being held in the sacred temple town of Yadagirigutta, and claimed that he had prayed to the presiding deity at the Sri Lakshminarasimha Swamy Temple to change the "anti-farmer thoughts" of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao into "pro-farmer" ones.
Kumar added that he had also prayed to the deity to "drive away the problems of the farmers" of the state and to keep them happy.
Calling KCR a "cruel ruler", he alleged, "Our CM is doing little to help the farming community in Telangana. The Centre, on the other hand, is giving several subsidies to the farmers of both the country and the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reduced the prices of di-ammonium phosphate, an important fertiliser, despite the increase in the product's price in the international market. He has taken steps to credit money into the bank accounts of farmers under the PM Kisan Samman scheme. In Telangana too, it will be our party, the BJP, that will come to the rescue of the farmers whenever they face problems."
"Our Kisan Morcha wing has held several demonstrations to bring the problems of Telangana's farmers to the fore in the past. Members of the morcha had opened grain procurement centres to help farmers sell their produce profitably. They had also distributed face masks, medicines and sanitisers to the agrarian community in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some Kisan Morcha leaders had been hospitalised as a result of their involvement in the relief efforts as these had exposed them to the coronavirus. Through all this, it is clear that the BJP is making continuous efforts for the uplift of the farmers of Telangana. We will continue to do so," the BJP bigwig added.
He then launched an attack on the leaders of both the Congress and the TRS, and flayed them for having "confined themselves to the safety of their homes" during the pandemic, and criticised the Left parties for having "completely disappeared from the scene" as well.
Commenting on KCR's farmhouse, somewhat of a leitmotif across the BJP's attacks on him, Kumar asked if the CM was making money by cultivating cannabis on the farmhouse's premises, and alleged, "The CM remains confined to his palatial farmhouse. He seems to have forgotten all about the fact that he made a promise to waive all farm loans. His government has not even bothered to spend the Rs 120 crore sanctioned for the purpose of soil testing by the Centre. On top of all this, KCR has cheated the farmers of the state by forcing them to cultivate finer varieties of rice at a loss."
