The Bharatiya Govamsha Rakshana Samvardhana Parishath (BGRSP) and the Telangana Vishwa Hindu Parishath Goraksha Vibhag have demanded that the Telangana government implement the 1977 Sections 5, 6, 10 and 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, on the occasion of the Bakrid festival in Telangana.
Addressing a press conference here today, M Ramraju, T-VHP President, and Y Bhanu Prakash, Telangana Bajrang Dal Convenor, urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to ban the slaughtering of animals in line with other States.
They said that the State government needed to do this to respect the sentiments of the Hindus, keeping the benefits providing to other religions in mind.
They further warned that they would wage a war against the Telangana government in case it failed to implement the provisions of the Act.
They also expressed happiness over some Muslim organizations exhorting their community people not to slaughter animals during festivals.
There was a need to punish those who were influencing innocent Muslims with vote bank politics, insulting the sentiments of Hindus, they said.
