Hindupur TDP MLA and Tollywood actor Nandamuri Balakrishna today warned that the BJP would face consequences and pay dearly if it failed to keep its promise of according Special Category Status (SCS) to Andhra Pradesh.
Speaking to the media after calling on AP Labour Minister Achchennaidu at the Secretariat, Balakrishna said that there was no need to beg for Special Status for AP because the Centre had promised to extend all necessary help at the time of bifurcation, and needed to stick to its promise.
The BJP leaders themselves had demanded in Parliament during the debate on bifurcation that Special Category Status should be accorded for ten years instead of five, Balakrishna pointed out, and warned that reneging on their commitment now would have serious repercussions.
