Following the increase in tension between the people of Andhra Pradesh and its neighbour over the Babli issue, Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan was, on Tuesday, requested not to undertake a visit to Puttaparti, by the Sri Satyasai Trust.
Chavan was scheduled to visit Puttaparti on Wednesday to have a darshan of Satya Sai Baba, but the tension over the arrest of Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu and his team by the Maharashtra police had forced the Satyasai Trust to issue the request.
TDP activists had earlier in the day warned that they would blockade Chavan's visit and not allow him to 'set foot on Andhra soil', after reports of lathi-charge on the party team in Dharmabad reached here.
Chavan is believed to have ordered his office to cancel the scheduled visit to Puttaparti.
