Senior IAS officer B P Acharya, the main accused in the APIIC-Emaar scam, was admitted to the Osmania General Hospital after he reportedly fainted at the Chanchalguda Central Prison.
The CBI court had, earlier, remanded Acharya to judicial custody till 15 February. However, he reported sick after being shifted to the Chanchalguda Jail.
Acharya was immediately rushed to the Osmania General Hospital for treatment. Doctors attending on him stated that he was weak, but maintained that there was no danger to his life.
Meanwhile, Jail Superintendent Kesav Naidu said that Acharya would not be provided any special facilities in the jail for his precarious health condition.
"The court has not directed the jail authorities to provide any special facilities to Acharya. Therefore, he would be treated as a common under-trial prisoner," he said. (INN)
