The last rites of top Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad will be performed by his family members in Hyderabad.
According to information coming in, the police will hand over the body to Azad's family members after bringing it to the city amidst tight security.
Azad was killed in an encounter with the state police at Jogapur in Adilabad early on Friday, and an autopsy on his body was performed at the Government Hospital in Manchiriyal town of the district on Saturday afternoon.
The ultra was the spokesman for the Communist Party of India - Maoist (CPI-Maoist), and considered number 2 in its hierarchy.
The hospital premises witnessed heated exchanges between the Maoist sympathisers and the police who did not allow them inside the hospital building. Only the slain Maoist's mother and brother were allowed to see the body.
Civil liberties activists have claimed that the encounter in which Azad was killed was fake and stage-managed. They claimed that Azad was arrested in Nagpur in Maharashtra and brought to Adilabad before being killed.
