A woman from the city was rescued from the clutches of her kafil in Saudi Arabia due to the help of Hyderabad MP and MIM president Asaduddin Owaisi.
The woman, Asra Begum, a resident of Hafeezpet, went to Saudi Arabia in 2016 upon the advice of her father in the hope of earning money. For a few months she was facing torture at the hands of the family she was working for, and was not given food or allowed to sleep.
Fed up with their harassment, Asra managed to contact her family and inform them of her state. In June, her family members met Owaisi at the party headquarters and sought his help to rescue Asra Begum. Owaisi wrote to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and also spoke to the Consul General of the Indian consulate in Jeddah, and urged them to help rescue her.
Today Asra Begum, along with her family members, met Owaisi at Darussalam and thanked him for helping her and helpging bring her back to the city. Owaisi promised to provide her a job in the institutions being run by Darussalam Trust.
