It's finally official. The Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu, who has been missing for 5 days now after the helicopter that he was travelling in became untraceable, has been found dead in Lobthang, along with the 4 other officials on the chopper.
The wreckage of the helicopter was discovered this morning, bringing to an end a massive manhunt launched for the VVIP that had the IAF scouring several hundreds of square kilometres of forest area.
The Chief Minister was returning to the Arunachal Pradesh capital Itanagar from Tawang when the helicopter lost contact with ground control as it neared the Sela Pass. 2 Mi-17, 2 Sukhoi-30, 2 Cheetah and 2 Chetak helicopters had been going on sorties, battling bad weather conditions - since Saturday - in an attempt to locate the Pawan Hans helicopter carrying Dorjee Khandu. By yesterday, officials were able to narrow down the search zone for Khandu to a 66 sq km stretch of forest area in the district of West Kamang in Arunachal Pradesh.
