A discussion on APPSC chairman Y Venkataram Reddy created a furore in the state Assembly on Saturday, with the Opposition demanding immediate firing and prosecution of the Chairman.
Reddy is currently facing allegations of corruption, including one that certain students belonging to the Reddy caste obtained a much higher score than BC/SC students. The APPSC chairman, however, has
slammed these accusations.
TDP leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu remarked, "There is no room for talent or examination for qualifying for the APPSC exams. Only money or connections will do the job."
Speaking to the Assembly, the chief minister Rosaiah said that the government is taking the issue seriously, and that action will be taken against Reddy after further investigation and a thorough analysis.
Speaker N Kiran Kumar Reddy had to adjourned the session twice - first when TDP leaders reached the Speaker's podium in protest, and the second time when tempers rose, since the discussions began.
