AP Special Status: Naidu to meet Modi on May 17
Amid mounting pressure from the Opposition on the Special Status issue, Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu is likely to visit Delhi to meet PM Narendra Modi.
Amid mounting pressure from the Opposition parties on the issue of Special Status for Andhra Pradesh, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is likely to visit Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
State finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the Centre should help the State till its development was on par with those of other neighbouring States. Towards this end, Chief Minister Naidu would meet Narendra Modi on May 17 and discuss the issue of Special Status to the State, he said.
Yanamala alleged that some people were spreading false information on the relations between the BJP and the TDP. "We have been demanding Special Status and funds for the State, and the Centre has also been responding to our appeals," he said.
Naidu however is facing accusations from the Opposition that he cannot put any pressure on the Centre due to his clout getting compromised by his involvement in the note-for-vote scandal, that is hanging on his head like the proverbial Sword of Damocles.
