Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao has constituted a four-member committee to go into the circumstances that led to the suspension of YSR Congress Party MLA R K Roja for one year during the Assembly's winter session last month, and also into the leakage of the tapes of the Assembly proceedings.
The Speaker appointed Deputy Speaker Mandali Buddha Prasad as the head of the committee, and TDP MLA Shravan Kumar, BJP MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju and YSRCP MLA Sreekanth Reddy as members.
The committee was directed to complete the probe soon and submit its report within 20 days.
The committee will look into the behaviour of the members in the House during the Assembly's winter session as well as its monsoon session.
The committee will also study whether the one-year suspension on Roja was sufficient or more rigorous punishment was needed so that in future no member would go berserk in the august House, and also examine whether any other members were behind Roja's unparliamentary behaviour in the House.
The committee was also directed to make suggestions on how the members should behave in the House.
The first meeting of the committee will most probably be held on January 5 and 6, and the final report will be submitted within 20 days of the first meeting.
