Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister Pattipati Pulla Rao on Wednesday assured that the government would waive off loans taken by nearly 40% of farmers by October 15.
The minister gave this assurance in an interaction with representatives of various associations of farmers.
He said that nearly 40% of the farmers in the State had taken loans of less than Rs. 50,000 each. Such loans would be waived off by October 15.
He said that the loans taken by remaining 60% of farmers too would be cleared at the earliest, as the process had already been set in motion.
Pulla Rao said that the farmers need not worry about the waiving off of their loans, as the TDP was committed to fulfilling its election promise.
He also assured that the government would resolve other problems being faced by the farmers' community. (INN)
