Describing the panchayat elections as a fight between the pro- development and anti-development forces in the state, YSR Congress honorary president Y S Vijayamma has appealed to the people to vote intelligently.
In an open letter to the people, she said ?With notifications for the panchyat elections being issued, the people have to choose the right candidate because the future depends on the elected sarpanches.
"The state is passing through a difficult phase right now, and you have to make a choice between the people who are associated with forces that are in favour of development and welfare schemes, and those who have opposed the former in the past and are still opposing them.?
According to Y S Vijayamma, the Congress and the TDP have played major roles in undoing a large part of the good work that was accomplished in YSR's era.
In her opinion, the two parties have taken the development clock backward in terms of agriculture, industry and other fields.
She also said that development in rural and social sectors has been badly affected.
Y S Vijayamma went to say "The panchayat polls are a golden chance to teach the two parties a fitting lesson."
"These elections are a fight between anti-development forces and the YSR Congress which has always aligned itself with the welfare of the people. This is a war between values and credibility on one hand, and conspiracy and betrayal on the other," she said with an air of grandiose.
It's evident that Vijayamma perceives the upcoming panchayat elections to be important as, in her opinion, they should be treated as the prelude to general elections. She believes that the latter will re-establish the "golden era" of YSR Congress. (INN)
