The Andhra Pradesh High Court today passed crucial orders in a case related to the arrest of Dr Sudhakar.
It asked a sessions judge of Visakhapatnam to visit the hospital where Dr Sudhakar is undergoing treatment, and record his statement.
It also asked the judge to submit the statement of the doctor by Thursday evening.
The doctor was arrested in Vizag by the police after allegations that he was fighting with local people on the Vizag national highway.
The police also booked a case under sections 353 and 427 of the IPC for causing obstruction to a public servant from discharging his duties.
However, what caused a major controversy was the police beating him up, videos of which went viral.
The traffic constable Madhu Babu who beat up the doctor was suspended by the police department.
Later Dr Sudhakar was shifted to a mental hospital after King George Hospital doctors came to the conclusion that his mental condition was not stable.
Dr Sudhakar had been suspended by the state government many days back for making allegations that the doctors involved in the treatment of Covid-19 patients and suspects didn't have face masks to wear while extending treatment.
