The Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) employees resuming their duties has had a salutary effect on the state Assembly. The House saw normal business proceedings with no disruption, after a long period, on Saturday.
For the first time this Budget Session, the Assembly transacted as per its listed agenda.
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) President N Chandrababu Naidu, for the second time, was conspicuous by his absence from the House. Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy was present for a while.
The Telangana impasse still continued to haunt the Congress members from the Telangana region, who boycotted the session today as well. However, 2 Congress MLAs, from the Telangana region did attend the session, and participated in the discussion on water supply, during zero hour.
Legislators from the Seemandhra regions also attended the session. The House witnessed peaceful environs, though the attendance of the members was thin.
The agitated legislators had paralyzed the House for nearly 14 days, demanding the creation of a Telangana state, and on the 2 other days, TDP MLAs from Seemandhra region were demanding a unified state.
However, the situation may not remain the same after TDP MLAs from Telangana start attending the sessions from Monday.
