AP's MoUs On Power Will Hurt Telangana: Congress
By approving projects of 6,500 MW for it, the Centre was making Andhra Pradesh more attractive for investors and industries, said T Jeevan Reddy, Congress MLA.
Congress MLA T Jeevan Reddy on Wednesday expressed apprehensions that the MoUs on power signed by the Government of Andhra Pradesh with different agencies might hurt the interests of Telangana.
Speaking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Reddy said that the MoUs clearly showed the Central Government's bias against Telangana.
By approving power projects of about 6,500 MW for Andhra Pradesh, the Centre was making the residuary State more attractive for investors and industries.
He said that the availability of adequate power would naturally attract industries to Andhra Pradesh while leaving its neighbour in a disadvantaged position.
He feared that existing industries might shift their base from Telangana to Andhra Pradesh.
Jeevan Reddy said that while Naidu should bring development to Andhra Pradesh, he must also realise his moral responsibility towards Telangana and refrain from steps that could hurt the interests of the new State.
The Congress leader accused Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao of having failed to make proper representations to the Centre in getting new power projects for the State.
He said that KCR should take the entire opposition into confidence and pressurise the Centre for more projects and funds.
He alleged that KCR had been acting more like a monarch than like a public representative. (INN)
