Security today at the residence of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in Undavalli was beefed up amid major security threats from Maoists who were protesting against the October 24 encounter along the AP-Odisha border.
AP DGP Sambasiva Rao along with the intelligence chief reviewed the security arrangements. Some additional 25 security personnel have been deployed at the Naidu's residence.
Later speaking to media, the DGP said that the Maoists were known for playing victim and maligning the police at every chance they got. Maoist sympathizers and the wife of Maoist top leader G Ramakrishna levelling allegations that he was in police custody, stood as testimony to this, he said. But even people including Varavara Rao were now claiming that R K was safe and alive somewhere else.
He said that if subdued Maoists would surrender, the government would offer free treatment to heal their injuries, and also give them a chance to reform.
After days of speculations and rumours in media circles, the DGP claimed that the combing ops along the AOB had been stopped a week ago.
