Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, will host a three-day BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) summit on "Urban Transition" from September 14 to 16, 2016.
Nearly 600 delegates from the five nations will take part in the summit. The summit will discuss and formulate strategies for sustainable development.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary Satya Prakash Tucker will welcome the BRICS delegation, and that will be followed by an inauguration speech by Union Minister for Urban Development M Venkaiah Naidu. AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will deliver the keynote address.
The eight plenary sessions will discuss several topics under urbanization including
1. National Urban Agenda 2. BRICS Smart Cities Conclave 3. Financing Urban Infrastructure 4. Inclusive Housing and Informal Economies 5. Climate Change 6. SDG and Urban Environment 7. Resilient Water and Sanitation Management 8. New Towns and Regional Planning 9. Urban Renaissance: New Reform Agenda
