Hyderabad | 21st March 2012
Counting for the by-polls held for 4 Assembly seats is on, and the TRS has won 4 seats.
So far, the counting has revealed the following positions:
Nagarkurnool: Independent candidate Nagam Janardhan Reddy (Wins by a margin of 27,325 votes)
Station Ghanpur: T Rajaiah from TRS (Wins by a margin of 32,638 votes)
Adilabad: Jogu Ramanna from TRS (Wins by a margin of 31,396 votes)
Kollapur: Jupally Krishna Rao from TRS (Wins by a margin of 15,013 votes)
Kamareddi: Gampa Govardhan from TRS (Wins by a margin of 44,485 votes)
Mahabubnagar: (Wins by a margin of 1,897 votes)
Kovvur: YSR Congress (Wins by a margin of 23,496 votes)
While the Telangana Rashtra Samithi has won in 4 out of the 5 seats it has contested for in the region, pro-Telangana independent candidate Nagam Janardhan Reddy has bagged the Nagarkurnool seat.
The TDP and the Congress - the 2 biggies in Andhra Pradesh - have been wiped out.
The by-polls were necessitated after MLAs resigned from these seats - except in Mahabubnagar, where sitting independent candidate Rajeshwar Reddy passed away. 4 members had resigned in support of a separate Telangana, and joined the TRS. Nagam Janardhan Reddy quit the TDP in support of Telangana, too, to contest as an independent canididate.
The Kovvur candidate, Prasanna Kumar Reddy, had quit the Congress to join Jagan's party, the YSR Congress.
