HC Order On Roja: AP Government To Appeal
Dejected by the High Court order temporarily nullifying Roja's 1-year suspension from the AP Assembly, the AP government is planning to appeal against it.
Dejected by the High Court order temporarily nullifying the Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker's order suspending YSR Congress Party MLA R K Roja from attending the Assembly for one year, the Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly planning to appeal against it.
According to informed sources, the ruling Party is planning to press the Legislature Secretary to file an appeal to a division bench on the issue.
The TDP has decided to plead that the Court cannot intervene in the affairs of the House during the session as per rule 212 of the Constitution, and the Speaker had discretionary powers to take decisions and steps against erring members.
It is learnt that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu was upset with the development that gives the Opposition party a shot in the arm in taking on the ruling Party during the ongoing budget session. Sensing the problem, the Speaker even adjourned the House to March 18 and denied Roja a chance to enter the House on the same day that she got a reprieve from the Court, the YSR Congress alleged.
Legislative Affairs Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu and Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao held talks with the Leader of the House (Chandrababu Naidu) on the issue. They went into a huddle for some time and took a legal opinion on the issue, after which the Chief Minister decided to appeal the verdict.
