The 125th anniversary of the formation of the Indian National Congress will be celebrated in a grand manner across the state, said Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas.
Talking to media persons after a meeting convened to review arrangements for 125th anniversary celebrations with Chief Minister K Rosaiah, district Congress committee presidents and senior leaders of the party at Gandhi Bhavan on Tuesday, the PCC chief said that the party would take up various programs to mark the anniversary from November 14th to November 19th across the districts.
Srinivas said that various competitions on debate, elocution and essay-writing would be held in all districts for students of colleges and high schools.
The party will take up plantation drive in all districts on Nov 15th in which lakhs of saplings will be planted.
The party will also conduct peace rallies in the districts and in the state capital on November 16th, stressing on the importance of communal harmony.
The PCC chief called upon party cadre to participate widely in the programs and make them successful.
Srinivas also asked the Congress workers to take the achievements of the party to every nook and corner of the state, and strengthen the party base at grass-roots level.
