East Godavari district collector M Ravi Chandra on Sunday directed the agriculture and revenue officials to estimate the crop and property loss due to super cyclone in affected areas properly without giving room for any complaint.
Talking to media persons after reviewing the relief and rescue measures with the heads of concerned departments at the district collectorate, Ravi Chandra stated that the district suffered huge crop damage due to incessant rains for the past 7 days.
Directing the officials to take up rescue and relief works in flood-submerged areas, he said that many areas in the districts including Indrapalem, Karapa, Kajukuru, Gollapalem, Tallarevu and Uppada have faced the brunt of cyclone.
Chandra directed officials to shift people staying in low-lying areas to safer places immediately as rough sea waters, with waves up to 2 to 4 metres, would submerge areas close to the shore.
Reacting to reports on submerging of areas in Uppada mandal due to sea water, Chandra asked officials to relocate people to safer places and take relief works on war footing. Around 75 houses were damaged in Uppalaguptam, and erosion of land was reported in Allavaram mandal in the district.
The collector said that the compensations for houses damaged partially and fully would be announced once the officials estimated the damages.
