Chittoor was violent, but other districts were relatively peaceful.
Chittoor has seen enough violence today to last a while now, with protestors resorting to reckless burning of buses scooters, jeeps, lorries, autos, Sumos, and even attacks on shops. There, the Congress party is on a 48-hour bandh in support of Samaikyandhra.
In Anantapur, all private offices, educational institutes and shops were closed, and no buses were plying. There was a rail roko here. Chiranjeevi, who is on his bus yatra, was in Anantapur today, where he addressed crowds at SKU.
The bandh in Kadapa district was peaceful, with all business and educational establishments and public transport facilities closed, but there was a rally of bullock carts in support of a united Andhra.
In Kurnool district, vehicles on national highways were stopped, and passengers were served lunch on the road by Samaikyandhra supporters. Prakasam district also saw a rasta roko, on NH5, and the police had to make some arrests there.
The scene in Andhra is slightly, well, colourful. Women in East Godavari made their statement in favour of a united state, through rangolis and a deeparadhana. West Godavari witnessed demonstrations on coconut trees and palm trees. In Srikakulam, medicos protested, and a few Congress councilors climbed on top of a cell tower.
Ashok Gajapathi Raju ran a signature campaign in Vizianagaram, and Visakhapatnam had dharnas by medicos, TDP MLAs and corporators, among others. In Krishna district, a yagnam was held for the cause of the health of Lagadapati and Devineni, the 2 politicians who’ve been on a fast for over a week now.
Telangana isn’t devoid of action. In Warangal, relay hunger strikes are being held, and the PRP continues to be derided. Posters of Ram Charan and Allu Arjun were torn. There were protests in Adilabad and other districts as well.
