Eminent industrialist and chairman of the Mahindra Group Anand Mahindra has been appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Telangana Young India Skill University.
The State government on Thursday issued an order to this effect.
It was stated in the order that Anand Mahindra would hold the post for one year.
The Skill University is considered the brainchild of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. On the same day that the Assembly approved the Skill University Bill recently, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the university at Mir Khanpet in Kandukuru mandal of Rangareddy district.
The university aims to improve the skills of the youth. Training will be given in 17 skill development courses, and employment opportunities will be provided in private companies. Starting with 2,500 students this year, the university will expand to train lakhs of people every year. The varsity activities will continue in the building of Engineering Staff College of India at Gachibowli till its own campus at Begarikanche is complete.
