Andhra Pradesh Congress Manifesto Committee's chairman, Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, on Wednesday, dismissed the reports that appeared in a section of the media about the shortage of candidates in the Seemandhra region.
Speaking to media personnel at Indira Bhavan, Anam said that the list of aspirants from all the constituencies in the Seemandhra region was huge.
He claimed that the list of aspirants is so long that the Congress leaders were finding it difficult to shortlist them.
However, he said, the list of the suitable candidates for the ensuing Assembly and Lok Sabha elections will be shortlisted, and it will then be sent to the Congress High Command for the final approval.
Anam also announced that the draft of the manifesto of the Seemandhra Congress will be ready by March 30.
He said that the immediate needs and long-term requirements of the region will be addressed in the manifesto, and that instead of making tall promises, the party will make practical and achievable promises.
He also announced that AICC president Sonia Gandhi has been invited to visit the Seemandhra region and that the dates of her tour will be finalised soon. (INN)
