Amberpet Tahsildar Sandhya Rani, who went underground soon after her brother was trapped by the Anti-Corruption Bureau while demanding and receiving Rs 4 lakhs for granting building permissions, surrendered before the ACB court on Monday.
There have been allegations for long that Rani was demanding bribes for granting building permissions. The ACB arranged a trap and nabbed Rani's brother while he was receiving the tainted money from the complainant. Soon after, fearing arrest by the ACB, the Amberpet Tahsildar went underground.
With the issue taking a serious turn, Rani surrendered before the ACB court on Monday.
As the judge of the ACB court remanded her to judicial custody till December 28, Rani was lodged in the Chanchalguda women's jail.
