Telangana Congress MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy urged Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to permit farmers to pay their loans using old 500 and 1,000 rupee notes, and claimed that KCR did not possess knowledge on the effects of having fully cash-free transactions.
Speaking to the media at Assembly Media Hall on Wednesday, Reddy said that neither Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu nore KCR had apprised the Centre on the status quo ensued after demonetization in the two Telugu States. He said that farmers were the worst hit, as they were unable to pay their loans using 500 or 1,000 bills.
Demanding that the Chief Minister impose a moratorium on farmers' loans, he urged the State and Central governments to allow farmers to either pay their loans using old notes or facilitate the exchange of new ones.
Speaking on KCR's Nov 6-speech about a cashless economy, he said that it was illogical of KCR to state that people would easily understand cashless transactions by taking up just one awareness program.
