All-Party Meet On Babli Project Held

The 2nd all-party meeting on the Babli case unanimously decided to seek a review/clarification from the SC.

The second all-party meeting on the Babli Barrage Judgement held under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, at Secretariat this afternoon, unanimously decided to seek a review/clarification from the Supreme Court to further safeguard the interests of Andhra Pradesh.

The Chief Minister also suggested to party leaders to accompany Major Irrigation minister P Sudarsan Reddy on his trip to Delhi for the review/clarification, and also agreed to utilize the services of Senior Supreme Advocate for this appeal suggested by the opposition party leaders.

The Chief Minister opined that after a favourable direction from Supreme Court on the review, the state government would request the government of India for a joint meeting with the Maharashtra government on this issue.

The CM and all the leaders strongly opined unanimously that the supervisory committee for the compliance of judgement should be empowered with executive powers for the implementation of its directives. Leaders were also of the opinion that in case of defiance or violations of the committee's directives, a stringent penalty as determined by Supreme Court needs to be levied.

The Chief Minister agreed to add suitable suggestions from all party leaders on the review/clarification appeal proposal, and directed the officials accordingly.

Minister for Major Irrigation Sudarshana Reddy, Congress chief whip Sri Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, whip Anil; TDP leaders Tummala nageswara Rao, Errabelli Dayakar Rao and E Peddi Reddy; CPI's Narayana and Chada Venkata Reddy; TRS' R Vidyasagar Rao and B Vinod Kumar; BJP's Prof. S V Seshagiri Rao, MIM's Syed Amin Jafri, Lok Satta Party's V Lakshman Balaji and P Ravi Maruthi; YSRCP's K K Mahender Reddy; senior legal advisors and senior officials from the Irrigation department attended the all-party meeting.

The Chief Minister said that the executive powers and authorities to the supervisory committee should flow from Parliament for the effective implementation of the judgement.

CM's Directive To Officials

The Chief Minister has directed the officials to convene an all-party meeting on the "Final Agreement Proposed With Maharashtra Government" on the Pranahita-Chevella Project

TDP, TRS Leaders Appreciate CM For Kantanapally Project

TDP and TRS leaders appreciated the Chief Minister for taking up the Kanthanapally project, and requested him to direct the officials to speed up the works.

The Chief Minister has also directed the officials to send the government status reports on all inter-state projects in which waters are shared between AP and other states. Further, he agreed to review the important projects, and their progress at a high-level meeting to be convened soon. (INN)
