Expressing concern over dengue deaths in Adilabad district, Rajya Sabha MP V Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday appealed to the state government to announce a special package for the district.
Talking to media persons after reviewing with district officials the deaths that occurred due to dengue, VH said that he would take up the matter of increasing cases of dengue with the Chief Minister and appeal to him to announce a special package to deal with the prevailing situation.
He said that he would also appeal to the CM to fill the posts that have been lying vacant in the health department for a long time.
According to reports, Serotype 2 of dengue has been noticed for the first time in Andhra Pradesh, particularly from north Telangana districts, after tests conducted through the Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction Technique.
Adilabad district seems to have one of the highest incidences of dengue, even though the district administration says that only a handful of positive cases were detected.
The prevalence of the disease in rural areas has also become a cause of worry for experts, as dengue was hitherto known to be restricted mainly to urban areas.
VH said that the government must improve the efficiency and calibre of doctors by closely monitoring their activities.
He also appealed to doctors in hospitals to improve their efficiency by keeping abreast of latest development in the medical field.
Thanking Telangana the employees for participating in the general strike, he said their sacrifices and strike for 42 days would not go waste, and that the Congress High Command would take a favourable decision on Telangana. (INN)
