MLAs supporting Y S Jaganmohan Reddy met at his residence before going to the Assembly to cast their votes for the Legislative Council elections.
Hours before voting for the MLC seats began, Congress MLAs supporting former Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy met at his residence in Jubilee Hills.
According to sources, the meeting was called to discuss the strategy to be adopted during the voting for the Legislative Council elections after Chief Whip Bhatti Vikramarka issued a whip making it mandatory for the Congress MLAs to cast their franchise in favour of the ruling party candidates.
The whip directed the Congress legislators to ensure that the ruling party candidates win with a thumping majority.
Sources said that the meeting at Jaganmohan Reddy's residence lasted for about an hour and was attended by 26 MLAs.
Later, the MLAs who attended the meeting told mediapersons that they would vote according to their conscience.
The MLAs who participated in the meeting included Mekapati Chandrasekhar Reddy, Jayasudha, Ramachandra Reddy, Pilli Subhash Chandra Bose, Amarnath Reddy, Adinarayana Reddy, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, Gurunatha Reddy, Sesha Reddy, Siva Prasad Reddy, Kunja Satyavathi, Kamalamma, K Srinivasulu, Balanagi Reddy, Shobha Nagi Reddy, Nallapu Reddy Prasanna Kumar Reddy, Srikanth Reddy, Konda Surekha, Ravi, Sucharitha, Ramakrishna, Babu Rao and Katasani Rami Reddy.
Amongst these, 2 MLAs were elected on the Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) tickets, and 2 were elected on the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) tickets.
After the meeting, the MLAs proceeded to the Assembly to cast their votes in the council elections.
