9 IPS officer trainees tested positive for H1N1 in the city-based Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy.
They were all admitted to different hospitals in the city. Three of them have already been discharged.
Throat swabs were taken from all trainees who had complained of cough / cold / fever. 917 vaccines have been administered in the campus to the trainees, workers, faculty and families. 2,764 dosages of homeopathic medicine have also been administered.
Dr G Srinivas Rao, Special Officer, Epidemics, and Dr. Lalitha, District Surveillance Officer, Ranga Reddy district, along with a medical team of four doctors camped at the Academy on Saturday from 9 am. They conducted a sensitization programme on H1N1 to the IPS trainees, participants of other courses, faculty and staff of the Academy.
A medical screening of all the trainees was done, and those showing symptoms were provided prophylactic treatment.
All preventive measures including sanitization, personal hygiene and quarantine are being taken.
Health and Family Welfare Commissioner Dr. Jyoti Buddha Prakash is monitoring the situation and providing the necessary support from the state government. (INN)
