Corporators of the Congress and the Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen are keenly waiting for their Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) colleagues to take a decision and join them on a 'study tour'.
The study tour will take them to New Delhi, Amritsar and Chandigarh to study the developmental works being carried out in these cities.
The Congress and the MIM corporators are keen to recieve an answer from their colleagues since they believe that the 1st week of February would be the best time fot the trip. The weather would just be perfect, with the winter having passed by and the summer yet to begin in earnest, they opined.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation is expected to spend about Rs. 50 lakhs for the trip.
The corporators will soon get handycams to shoot their struggle to serve the public. A proposal has already been sent to the Ministry Of Municipal Administration And Urban Development, seeking a sanction of Rs. 45 lakhs for the handycams, with each handycam costing about Rs. 40,000.
The corporators had earlier been given a laptop each, and a sport meet had recently been held for them. The meet that galvanised the corporators to get some exercise was conducted at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs. A cultural program, that cost GHMC Rs. 23 lakhs, was also organised for the corporators. The corporators' phone bills are also being paid by the GHMC.
The corporators had been taken to a study tour of New Delhi and Agra in July. The trip was organised by the Ramky Enviro Engineers Limited to study the Integrated Municipal Solid Waste Management projects being managed by the company in the 2 cities.
The company is said to have spent over Rs. 1.2 crore on the study tour, for most of the corporators had taken their families along.
The tour was believed to have been organised by the Ramky group to mollify the corporators who were against an agreement between the GHMC and the company.
