Hyderabad | 13th August 2010
The state police on Thursday revealed that they have arrested 4 persons on charges of attempting to link up with underworld Don Chota Shakeel to carry out anti-national activities in the country.
According to the police, the 4 had posed as CPI (Maoist) Naxalites, and were planning to visit Dubai (UAE) in the second week of August this year, for establishing links with the associates of underworld don Chota Shakeel for carrying out subversive activities in India.
Meanwhile, Bangalore police also arrested 2 persons involved in the attempt, and seized a considerable sum of money from them.
According to police, one Pasham Sridhar, a real estate businessman in Hyderabad, came into contact with one Vinay of Bangalore, during the course of his business.
In June 2010, Vinay put forth a proposal to Sridhar that if he teams up with him for carrying out the works as entrusted by his friend Altaf alias Rakesh of Dubai, they can earn a lot of money.
Vinay also told Sridhar to form a group of like-minded persons to carry out the works entrusted to them collectively by Altaf.
Sridhar enlisted the help of Koyi Sarat Chandra, Darshanam Pradeep Kumar and Gaddam Pavan Kumar, to earn easy money this way.
According to the plan, Koyi Sarat Chandra conversed with Altaf over a public phone by posing as Maoist leader RK.
Altaf fell into the trap, and sent Rs. 25 lakh through 'hawala' means to Vinay as advance, and asked the gang to visit Dubai, and sent him visas and air tickets.
The gang members were preparing to leave for Dubai to have detailed discussions for finalizing the deal with Altaf, an associate of Chota Shakeel, when they were nabbed on August 10.
In a discreet probe, it was found that Vinay had received Rs. 25 lakh through from Altaf in Dubai as a token amount to forge a long-term relationship.
Vinay told the police that Altaf had told him that the Inter Services Intelligence of Pakistan was willing provide Naxalites money for subversive activities, and if things went according to plans, the money would be followed by supply of arms and ammunition.
