Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao today directed the officials to expedite the process of acquiring land for the Palamur Lift Irrigation Project among others.
Holding a high-level review meeting on Monday, Rao asked officials to acquire the 4,000 acres needed for Lift Irrigation project at the earliest with minimum hassles and just compensation to the oustees.
He also directed them to supply water to Rabi crops only for now as irrigation waters would be channeled to eight lakh acres by the next Kharif season in the Telangana. And he asked them to instruct the farmers to irrigate only those crops that relied on nearby water sources.
Some 10 lakh acres were to be irrigated through the the Palamur-Ranga Reddy project, and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had directed officials to take up the projects expeditiously and make coordinated efforts to achieve the target, the Irrigation Minister said.
Directing the officials to submit timely reports on the progress of the works of land acquisition and construction works of the projects, Rao said that coordinated efforts alone could achieve the target of irrigating one crore acres over the next five years.
