The EC will reportedly appoint separate expenditure observers, and ensure that the distribution of cash and liquor does not take place, according to Vinod Zutshi.
About 31 lakh applications have reportedly been received for enrolment of fresh voters, during the revision of electoral rolls conducted in Andhra Pradesh.
Today was the last day for enrolment of voters, and the number of applications (Form 6) received stood at 30,98,445, Vinod Zutshi, Deputy Election Commissioner, told reporters on Monday.
A total of about 37 lakh forms, including enrolment, have been received under other categories like corrections, deletions and transfer, he added.
The forms will be disposed off by January 16, and the final notification of rolls would be done on the same day, he informed.
However, the process of continuous updation of rolls would reportedly begin from January 17.
The total number of voters in the state stood at around 5.5 crore.
AP has achieved 100% coverage of photo identity cards.
The Election Commission will distribute photo voter slips to electors, which can also be used for casting vote.
Zutshi also held a meeting with district election officers in the state, where the Assembly election and the Lok Sabha polls are due in about 5 months from now.
"The EC will appoint separate expenditure observers, and ensure that the distribution of cash and liquor does not take place," he stated.
