Sleuths of detective department, Central Crime Station arrested a gang of agents on Sunday and broke a criminal ring which used to forge registration certificates of vehicles and driving licences in collusion with some employees of Road Transport Authority zonal offices.
The sleuths also managed to arrest 3 RTA employees and 2 agents, and also seized 3 four-wheelers and Rs. 10,000 in cash from them, apart from the fabricated RC Books and driving licences.
According to CCS officials, the gang of agents used to fabricate the RC books of the vehicles with the help of the RTA employees in Zonal offices in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts.
Police also took into custody P Laxmikanth Reddy (30), a network engineer of RTA Attapur, Shaik Mosin (29), network administrator of RTA Khairatabad, and V Srinivasa Reddy (31), network administrator of RTA Malakpet, along with Yata Balaraju, a four-wheeler financier, and Sultan Narasimha, an RTA agent.
The police sleuths revealed that the existence of the criminal ring came to light when an accused in an automobile theft case tipped them off.
