2 Congress MLAs, on Monday, submitted resignations from their posts, and announced that they were officially joining the YSR Congress party.
The MLAs - Venkata Sujoy Krishna Ranga Rao Rau (Bobbili constituency, Vizianagaram district) and Alle Kali Krishna Srinivas alias Alla Nani (Eluru segment, West Godavari) - submitted their resignations to Speaker Nadendla Manohar, at the latter's chambers in the Assembly premises.
Later, talking to reporters, they said that they had resigned from the Congress' primary membership and their respective MLA posts as per the wishes of the people in their respective constituencies. They also claimed that several Congress MLAs would join the YSR Congress soon.
Alla Nani said that the Congress was resorting to political vendetta against Kadapa MP Jaganmohan Reddy. He said that Jagan was being subjected to injustice by the ruling party.
He alleged that the Congress has totally ignored the services of former Chief Minister later Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, and expressed unhappiness over the fact that certain leaders were even making fun of tears of YSR's widow Vijayamma.
Ranga Rao said that he was joining the YSR Congress due to his love and respect for the departed leader YSR, and that the MLA post was not important for him.
He said he resigned from his post to join a party whose president was arrested by the CBI on false charges. He also said that the people in his constituency had wanted him to join the YSR Congress party and support Jaganmohan Reddy, and that he was now obliging him. (INN)
