2,200 Additional MBBS Seats In State From 2022-23
Minister for Health T Harish Rao today announced that 2,200 additional MBBS seats would be added to Telangana through eight new colleges this academic year.
Minister for Health T Harish Rao today announced that a total of 2,200 additional MBBS seats would be added to Telangana through the launch of eight new colleges this academic year.
Speaking to the media on Monday, Rao said that there were only three medical colleges in Telangana till 2014, but after the formation of Telangana State, the number had gone up to 17, and very soon each of the 33 districts in Telangana would have at least one college.
The State government had recently issued a GO amending the rules of admission into MBBS and BDS courses under the B-category, with which 85% of B-Category MBBS and dental seats in minority and non-minority private medical and dental colleges would now be available to students from Telangana, he said.
"We will start admissions in eight new medical colleges from this year, which will add 1,200 seats. Combined with the 1,067 additional MBBS seats through 85% reservation in B-category medical seats in private medical colleges, over 2,200 medical seats will be available from this year. This is a Dasara gift from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao to MBBS aspirants in Telangana," Rao gushed.
