The state government has decided to withdraw 135 more cases against students who participated in the Telangana agitation, on Monday.
Disclosing this to the media at the Secretariat, minister for panchayat raj Jana Reddy said that the remaining cases would be lifted shortly, in stages, after examining them.
He also issued an appeal through the media to the Congress MPs who were
on a hunger strike at New MLA Quarters, Adarsh Nagar, to call off their agitation immediately as chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy agreed to withdraw the cases.
Stating that the government had announced the
lifting of 565 cases during the winter session of the state Assembly, Jana Reddy that the administration was studying the cases further, to take a decision.
With this, 43% of the cases against students have been withdrawn, said Jana Reddy.
Minister for legislative affairs Duddilla Sridhar Babu and Minister for BC Welfare Basavaraj Saraiah also spoke.
Earlier, home minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy, PR minister Jana Reddy, handloom minister Shankar Rao and BC welfare minister Basavaraj Saraiah met the chief minister and discussed the issue with him.
