Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) C V Anand on Thursday warned owners of shops dealing in car accessories and car d?cor services in the twin cities of stern action in case car windows are found to have dark film affixed.
Anand said that the Supreme Court has prohibited the usage of black film of any percentage on safety glasses, front and rear windscreens, and side-glasses of all motor vehicles in the country.
"Non-compliance of these orders will amount to contempt of the Supreme Court," he said.
The Additional CP said that he has been learnt from several car drivers and owners that the owners of shops dealing in car accessories and decor services were not guiding them correctly about the law, and that they were affixing black and other shades of film for commercial gains.
"The owners of the car accessories and car d?cor shops are hereby warned that in future, if enquiries reveal that film (sic) has been affixed by you, a criminal case under cheating and criminal breach of trust will be registered against the car accessory or d?cor shop owner and action taken. A report will be prepared to take action to seize the shop for illegal activities under the provisions of the Hyderabad City Police Act / Cr.P.C," he said.
Anand said that the Hyderabad traffic police would conduct a special drive from October 25 to enforce the Supreme Court's order.
"We not only must 'challan' the vehicle, but also remove the black film affixed to the glasses," he said.
The Additional CP has also sought assistance of car accessories shop owners in providing the department with the technical staff and implements to remove the film. (INN)
Hyderabad traffic police fined me Rs 900, which was 50% visible. Car film protects us from hard sun rays, and also gives protection. I agree black films should not be used. I wish police and government do better job, than increasing prices and imposing fine.
I was fined with Rs.900 for the first time for black film which is was ridiculous. may god give our police, Govt some brain in implementing such ridiculous rules.
the police should give more publicity to the judgement of the supreme court dated 16-5-2012 put on their blog, to educate the public otherwise this misinformation will continue and spoil their relationship with the public at large. As the judgement has clearly given direction to the police authorities to implement the judgement otherwise face contempt.
In hyderabad, even with 70% VLT tinting also getting fined. When i explained to ECIL traffic police, they said do you have RTA or court order?? this is really notl good and had to pay full fine Rs 500/-.these traffic police do not agree to RTA rules and they need to be first educated than people.
