Scores of aspirants for jobs of sub-inspectors converged at the Indira Park on Monday, in response to the 'Chalo Hyderabad' call given by the Andhra Pradesh State Backward Classes Welfare Association.
The aspirants demanded that the government immediately fill the 1,200 posts of police sub-inspectors and pointed out that it had not been done even after issuing a notification 2 years ago.
The protestors claimed that physical tests of the aspirants were conducted 16 months ago, and since then, there has been no further development. The written examinations and interviews were yet to take place, they pointed out.
Demanding that the government take a decision at the earliest on the issue, Backward Classes Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah, who led the protestors, pointed out that the State assembly had even passed a resolution on the VI zone.
Krishnaiah claimed that the aspirants were forced to spend the past 2 years on their own expenditure in the hope that there would be further progress in the job recruitment.
The BC leader pointed out that the aspirants were in a dilemma over the absence of any clear stance by the government, and said that they had not looked for other avenues of employment during the past 2 years.
Krishnaiah pointed out that even after filling up of the 1,200 posts, the police department would still be understaffed.
