Police Drive Against Prostitution

A series of raids followed the directions of Commissioner A K Khan to curb the growing menace of organised prostitution.
Hyderabad | 24th June 2010
In a series of raids conducted jointly by Task Force sleuths from West, North and Central zones, police rescued 17 sex workers and nabbed 16 pimps, late on Wednesday.

The joint raids were conducted within the limits of SR Nagar, Punjagutta, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills police stations. The Task Force sleuths' raids also included star hotels. The raids yielded Rs. 25,500 in cash and 11 mobile phones from the pimps.

The raids followed the directions of Hyderabad city Police Commissioner A K Khan to curb the growing menace of organised prostitution.

According to the Task Force, these pimps procured sex workers from across the state, and even from foreign countries. These sex workers were hired on a weekly or a monthly basis.

The pimps supplied sex workers to their rich clients. The demand for sex workers from foreign countries was termed as very high, and the pimps had invested large amounts of money to get them to Hyderabad.

According to the police, the arrested sex workers belonged to Morocco, Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Bheemavaram, Karimnagar, Vijayanagaram, Anantapur, Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam.

The police booked a total of 15 cases - 6 in SR Nagar police station, 5 in Punjagutta police station, 3 in Banjara Hills police station and one case in Jubilee Hills police station.

If this could have been happened in Northern India like Delhi, UP, Bihar, all the TV channels flashed this news with bold letters and breaking news. But why this is not happening? Even, this news is not published in Hyderabad edition of Times of India. What the media wants to say? South India is very clean. You stupid people only want to defame northern India?
