As many as 4,15,366 general candidates and 40,423 vocational candidates appeared for the examinations.

Medchal district topped the first year results with a 79% pass rate, and Ranga Reddy came second with a 77% pass rate. Mahbubabad was last with 43%.

Srihari made a fervent appeal to parents to avoid encouraging their wards to join only private and corporate colleges as the government colleges were doing well now. The Tribal Welfare Department's residential institutions' pass percentage was 87 and the other residential institutions saw an 86% pass rate, while private institutions' pass rate was just 69%, the Deputy CM said.

Candidates who failed and those who wanted to improve their scores can appear for the Intermediate advanced supplementary examinations in May/June 2018. The last date for applying for these exams is April 20.
